1. Comprehensive Paragraph 

The reading speed can be enhanced by practicing Comprehension Paragraphs on regular basis. It will not only increase your reading skills but will also enhance your analytical skills too. The best way to practice it is by reading only the questions without focusing on the options. Thereafter, read the passage from the start and then try to find the correct answer.

2) Re- Order Paragraph

You should try to properly check noun and pronouns in the paragraph and then try to reorder the sentences. You should also check for the contradict phrases like (however, but, although) and addition phrases like (Also, moreover, furthermore, besides.. etc) because they could never be first in the sentence.

3) Reading and Writing - fill in the blanks

To improve your word finding skills, do try to speak before and after the blank. In many cases, the missing word will be in the text but as a synonym, it will help in improving your skills in finding an answer, same as paraphrasing. You should also focus on collocation, tenses, phrasal verbs, nouns, adverbs etc.

4. Enjoy your Reading 

You should develop your interest in reading and should enjoy it. It will encourage you to read more and more. You should never take the help of dictionary while reading as it may disrupt your reading. Whenever a difficult word comes, do note down and check it later. It is important that you should try to guess the meaning of these words from the context or subject of the passage. If you don’t find reading material interesting then do not read it. 

5. Read Aloud

It can be considered to be an integral part of the reading section as it polishes your reading skills. While reading aloud, you should take care of intonation, pronunciation and fluency. It is important to record your statement and then rectify it, if you find any mistakes.

6. Read for Information

As an enthusiastic reader, you should try to extract information from your reading. Therefore, you should try to read quickly to determine the type of text and find the relevant information, title, heading and also the table of the contents. While reading, do try to discover the writer’s point of view and pay attention to the direction in which the discussion is going or developed.

7. Read for Reasons  

Before the reading starts, you will be given sufficient time and so utilize it to read the questions so that you can find their answers while you are reading the text. There can be few questions that demands for the meaning of the words and expressions of the text and so read it properly.

8. Develop habit of reading regularly

To enhance your reading skills, you should develop habit of reading good quality of English literature in the form of newspapers, magazines, articles, books etc. It will enhance your knowledge and will raise your levels of understanding about every topic and concept.
